To help support cutting-edge research in immunology, a group of PI patients and their families established, in 2003, a special interest guild at Children’s Hospital called the Primary Immunodeficiency Research Guild.
In October 2008, the guild’s new name became the Gift of Immunity Guild, reflecting an expanded view of Immunology and how so many pediatric diseases in addition to primary immunodeficiencies are affected by the immune system. The guild works with patients and their families affected by a variety of condition from diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis to transplant patients and G.I. disorders, as well as a variety of auto-immune diseases. The mission of the Gift of Immunity Guild is to raise funds for research, help raise public and physician awareness, and provide a community of support for families affected by these pediatric diseases.
